Was it a season of a lifetime for Staffer, Justin Caldwell?
On October 20th, I headed out to go after the big 10. The day before, I checked my trail cameras and set up on the mock scrape he had been working in the evenings.
I sprayed down with Scent Assassin before hitting the woods because the wind was questionable that evening.
Around 5:00 pm I hit the doe bleat and he came in like he was on a string, giving me a 20-yard shot. And the rest was history from there.
On November 2nd, the rut was starting to heat up and I went to a spot where there was a high concentration of doe, knowing a buck I called Mr. G was in the area.
It was just a matter of time before he slipped up going after a hot doe. So I get to the stand and spray down with Scent Assassin because again the wind was not in my favor.
It wasn’t long before I was covered up with doe. Sure enough, he slipped up and gave me a perfect 20-yard shot.
I was in pure shock because I was about to get my hands on my biggest buck, my second buck with a bow this season!
